When I ordered this bar I was looking for something light and flavorful. It was just that. However, it was just simply okay! It was actually similar to thick rice crispies (actually soy crisp) tied together with a light sticky flavor. My first bite was good but dry. The dryness lasted throughout the entire bar. The bar wasn’t “dry” but it left your mouth dry. The flavor was pretty good. I didn’t taste very much coconut and the lemon flavor wasn’t natural tasting. I looked at the back of the bar and saw no ingredients that said anything about lemon, coconut yes. So they should probably re-do that aspect of the bar. The founder of this bar Kathy Richards developed Chrons Disease and to eat something that did not make her stomach upset was the desire behind her creation. Overall, I give this bar a 6 out of 10 because it was very edible and for 16 grams of protein and 150, it kept me full for a long time.
My first expierence with Lara was the Jocalat Chocolate Hazelnut. My first bite was my last bite of that bar. It was bitter, dry, and just horrible! I was expecting some fig mixed with nutella and it didn’t even come close. It was all wrong. I wrote the company and they said I may have gotten a defective one since after it leaves the warehouse temperature and handling plays a big role in how the bars taste. They are sending a coupon in which I will try another flavor. 1 out of 10 for sure. 10 out of 10 for customer service!
The peanut butter chocolate chip was very good. It was my second experience with Lara and lived up to my expectations. It had chocolate chips in it which made the bar very creamy. What I was lacking was the peanut butter flavor. I couldn’t find it! Maybe too surrounded by all the fig which makes this bar super moist! 10 point for moist! Overall, I would buy this again as a quick meal because at 220 cals and barely any protein it’s only half-healthy to me! 7 out of 10.
The Pecan Pie was my third expierence and was almost the final one. I took my first bite and was immediately shocked with how sweet it was! I know pecan pie is supposed to be sweet but this was like they took maple syrup crushed up figs and pecans and wrapped it up. It was over powering. I have a sweet tooth and this made me ill. Again, the texture and moistness was there. The sweetness needs to be refined. I give it a 1 out of 10. Not my favorite!
Larabar peanut butter & jelly!
10 out of 10! I know I know! Seriously though. Peanuts and dried cherries!! Flavor was dead on even though its not real peanutbutter its real peanuts instead! As soon as I opened it a cherry was sticking out! I love when.you can see the fruit pieces. You know your getting freshness. It was the best Larabar I’ve tasted. 5 more bars to try hope they can live up to this greatness!
